BlueWave recognizes that the oceans bounty has far more to offer than just canned fish & fishmeal. A major part of the BlueWave story is about helping feed the world in a more cost effective and energy efficient manner. Consider that more than 50% of the world’s population still lives without access to modern kitchen food preparation, most important the refrigerator. Without cold storage, it is difficult to keep animal proteins as part of a regular diet – and especially fish protein. Even when dried fish is able to be part of the diet, a considerable amount of time & effort goes into this activity when done manually – and a considerable amount of the nutrient content and biomass is still lost.
Bluewave recognizes that there are many aspects to nutritional supplementation. Our goal is to assist companies, governments, NGOs and local populations by providing a critical portion of dietary needs at extremely affordable price points. Specifically when we look at the cost of protein functional foods in infant formulas, we see that the costs can be 2-3 times greater than our sources. That can mean several hundred dollars per year in savings for the family on a single infant/child feeding – in some cases it can mean the difference between getting Amino Acids or not getting them at all. We have access to the biomass and raw materials required and we welcome the chance to develop this program for under nourished populations throughout the world.
