Why Peru?
Fishing is a deeply rooted tradition and economically significant business in Peru. The cold Humboldt Current off the coast of Peru provides ideal conditions for phytoplankton growth, which in turn gives rise to one of the most abundant fish biomasses in the world. Consequently, Peru is the world’s largest producer and exporter of fishmeal, consistently accounting for over 40% of the world’s export supply.
